Avoid cutouts and hydrotests, and limit excavations. The HSD Procedure provides Traceable, Verifiable, and Complete (TVC) records to confirm pipeline physical and operational characteristics. HSD provides owners/operators the highest level of confidence available to meet Mega Rule requirements.

Instant Material Verification Report

The Instant Report is generated and delivered to customers within 12 hours of a sample completion. It provides immediate strength information to allow enable operators to make decisions instantly after receiving the report.

Frequently Asked Questions

Instant material results containing raw data collected are available immediately via MMTConnect™ software. The final TVC record is available within 7-to-10 business days, which includes measurements of pipe body chemistry, microstructure grain size, ERW seam type and heat treatment assessment, and pipe body grade (e.g. yield and ultimate tensile strength).

The most significant time spend in creating a final report is acquiring the chemical analysis lab results to input into our models. Some partners have in-house chemical capabilities, which can minimize the time to produce a final report.

While MMT’s default reports are sufficient for most customers, some do request customized reporting.  MMT has accommodated custom reporting depending on the request.  If you are interested in receiving a sample report, please contact us at

To obtain an 80% confidence interval, HSD results experience a 3 ksi conservative shift. Smaller conservative shifts lead to more positive grade determinations and fewer overall tests to meet regulations.
